Use the "Zebra Striping" technique to separate the ribbons between one another. This means alternating background colors. In this example, we alternated white and light grey backgrounds.
You can also have a "Slim Width" ribbon. This will make the content area more condensed. This might be good to use if there is not much content in this specific section.
You can use text or anything you want in a full-width section. It's just going to take up the full width of the browser window. A good use for it though is a Photo Ribbon which you can see below. This allows you to put an image in place that takes up the full width of the browser, essentially creating a "Photo Ribbon".

Use Background Images with text sparingly. It can be hard to read text on a background image, so be sure to use images with a color overlay, as this will help make the text be easier to read.
